For Men (& those who care  for them)

WHAT CAN HAPPEN

My hope in men’s work is (through poetry, story and ritual) to move men into their feeling bodies, engage their, often wary hearts and invite in a language of courage and sincerity and passion.

From this space men can engage deeply, meaningfully and often powerfully (even forcefully) with themselves and with another. They might also meet parts of themselves hidden away, or frozen, and very often magnificent, but seldom owned.  These encounters, when what is lost is found, or allowed to show up, can prompt intense feelings of joy, anger or grief. It is the security and the integrity of the space held by other men, who may also know the same or similar strong feelings in themselves, that allows and enables the unexpressed to form and be witnessed. It is in this melting pot that base metals can be forged into the most precious treasure.

Time with Robert Moore (author of Warrior King Magician Lover) and jungian James Hillman all further enriched and educated. My biggest understandings and insights came from stories and experiences told first hand, by indigenous teachers Malidoma Some and Martin Prechtel, whose cultures, until recently, still practised male initiations.

WORKSHOPS

With these understandings I would be happy to join in with other men leading sessions, be it for a few hours or a weekend. This might be in conjunction with a story, or a ritual, as well as helping to create and narrate the gathering.

RITES OF PASSAGE FOR TEENAGE BOYS

This is something I am developing with others, combining my work with men and the rites of passage work I am currently doing for young adults. If you know of a teenage boy, as family member or guardian or youth leader, who might benefit from this work, please GET IN TOUCH.

My experience of men's work began over 30 years ago with Michael Meade (here) and Robert Bly.
